Names

The first name against a record will be of the person finding the specimen; the second of the person responsible for naming it. Often these will be the same person. A third name indicates someone, usually an expert, who has confirmed the identification. Note that although current practice is to use a first name followed by a surname, this has not always been the case so it may be necessary to look under the name with initials.
