- To promote an interest in the study of fungi
- To assist members, and others, in the identification of fungi
- To keep records of the distribution and frequency of fungi in Norfolk
Forays take place in most months (and more frequently in the autumn) at sites around the county where the objective is to find, identify and record fungi. Where necessary, permissions will have been obtained from landowners for the collection of specimens for identification purposes.
Collecting for eating is discouraged.
At an annual indoor meeting members share their knowledge of identification techniques. Some members are trained to sample fungi for DNA barcoding and have established a laboratory facility for this in Norfolk.
