; Additional NotesTwo fruitbodies on a roadside grass verge beneath an English Oak tree (Quercus robur). Cap buff brown with a pinkish flush, diameter approx..60mm. Stem flesh yellow with red on outside, 40 x 12 mm. When cut lengthwise in two, the base of stem interior had a bright orange patch, a diagnostic feature of Hortiboletus engelii. Good quality ITS sequence matches well to several published sequences.

; Additional NotesGK posted images on the British Mycological Society Facebook page with the comment 'found today in a hedgerow by an oak, Fakenham, Norfolk, displaying exceptionally well developed orange staining in the stem base (usually you just see a few small spots or patches).
