Record Details

09/11/2019 Repps-with-Bastwick; TG424176; Buxus sempervirens; dead buds of terminal twigs; Stewart Wright; Stewart Wright; "Perithecia c. 0.2mm diam., bright red, crowded in groups on dead buds of terminal twigs"; [as Nectria desmazieri]; Lit. cited: 375
; Additional NotesOriginally recorded as Nectria desmazieressi [=Geejayessia desmazieri] with reference to Ellis & Ellis MOLP 1997 which gives just Nectria desmazieressi on Buxus. Subsequent research (2011) suggests there are 2 orange/red Geejayessia sp. on dead Buxus twigs. Geejayessia cicatricum occurs on dead buds on decaying/dead terminal branches whereas Geejayessia desmazieri occurs on bark of thicker, sub-terminal branches. There are no obvious macro or micro differences between the 2 species in the teleomorph stage.
